Principal’s Report
Term two has commenced well. It was terrific to see a large number of parents at the School Assembly last Wednesday, thank you to the children in Cluster four who hosted the assembly, great work everyone. Congratulations to the Merit Certificate and Values certificate winners, well done to them for their fabulous work.
Hampton Park PS is participating in the on-line trial program of the NAPLAN tests. The students in year three and five have participated this week and they still have numeracy to go. The tests allow for the child to take the pathway that best suit his/her needs, which will give us greater informed knowledge on each individual child’s ability. Once all schools are involved the turnaround time for results will also be quicker, something schools have been asking for. The Eagles cup has started well, all teams are showing improvement with their skills it is also terrific to see the building of good sportsmanship amongst the players.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
Our school is part of the national project for students with a disability and/or learning difficulties.
We have been asked to provide data about the number of and learning needs of children in our school. The name of the school and the name of the students will not be reported. Information about the different types of needs and the programs and resources the school uses to overcome barriers and support children with special educational needs will be collected.
Schools need to supply this data before Week 3 of Term 3 2018. If your child has any cognitive, physical, social or sensory disabilities that we are not aware of, please let the office staff know as soon as possible. This includes things like asthma, epilepsy, sensory processing disorders, loss of hearing or anything that may be regarded as a disability according to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 or the Disability Standards for Education Act 2005.

Reporting To Parents:
The teachers have begun work on the semester one summary report for students in Pre Primary to Year Six. This year we will be distributing the reports directly to the parents. In order to avoid expensive postal bills our aim is to hand deliver to as many parents as possible. In week nine on Wednesday 27th June all teachers will be outside their rooms with the reports. We ask that the parents come to the classes between 3:00 – 3:15pm to collect the report. If a parent is unable to collect the report his/herself directly from the teacher then the report will be posted home on the Thursday, which means it should arrive at the home address by the following Monday. If you have recently shifted and not updated your address with the school please contact the office as soon as possible to change your details.
Attendance:
One of the biggest reasons children fail at school is from lack of attendance. The teachers will be commenting on attendance in the summary report. If your child does not attend school regularly, it can have a huge impact on their learning. The table below shows how much the children miss out on when they don't attend.

At Hampton Park Primary School we understand how important school participation is to maximise opportunities for children by providing them with not only an education, but also support networks. School will help them to develop knowledge, values and skills that support further learning and being actively involved in their community. Many children are consistently late to school which is another problem that impacts on their learning. The first fifteen minutes of each day is extremely important. 15minutes x 5 = 75 minutes per week; this is longer than the amount of time given to some subject areas per week. Please endeavour to have your child at school on time.

Eagles Cup News
Football
Hampton Park’s Eagle’s Cup football season started strongly with a confident but slightly rusty win over Mt Lawley. They played well and we took home a win Hampton 7.13.55 vs Mt Lawley 5.2.32. Honourable mentions to the experienced year 6’s who helped out with the win. Everybody played well congratulations for stepping up in the 4th qtr. and special thanks to Mr Ker our Coach and Mr Lee the Umpire.
Soccer
Hampton Park played brilliantly in a close fought game against Mt Lawley A. It was a good improvement from last year the score was close 2-2. We conceded an early goal from a very good direct free kick before Pabin equalised just before half time. We fell behind again before a late goal from Garry settled it as HPPS finished the stronger team and nearly scored twice more. Everyone played great in A team whilst B team played well but got beaten by 6 goals. Fabulous job soccer.
Netball
A and B team had a smashing start for the term! With amazing sportsmanship we took the win! A team won by 20-1 and B team won by 7-1 points! Mt Lawley were a hard bunch but we made the win at the end! Great job to all!
Kindy Enrolments
We are now taking Kindy enrolments for 2019. The earlier we receive our enrolments the easier it makes it for the school to plan for class sizes and associated staffing. Enrolments for Kindergarten close on Friday 20 July. Once we have confirmed enrolments, the parents of new students will be invited to an event to meet staff and find out more about the school and the Kindy program in term 3.
Please spread the word to your friends and family in the area so we can be as prepared as possible for students starting their first year of school. To enrol, contact our friendly office staff or fill out the enrolment form via our website.
Monetary collections
Please remember to send in a payment envelope when making payments for your children, this includes online payments. We ask parents to complete the front of the envelope, include payment and the permission slip. This is then “POSTED” in the collections mailbox in the OFFICE. If you make a payment via EFT please use your child’s name as reference and complete the payment envelope and return it with the permission slip in the same manner.

We are still collecting cans for recycling, if you have any you would like to bring there are collection containers outside room 5. All aluminium drink cans are accepted.
