Principal’s Report
I hope everyone enjoyed the benefits of having a Monday Public Holiday this week. This term is racing away, this being the middle week of the school term.
Deputy Principal
Mrs de Jonk is taking some well-earned Long Service Leave commencing 12th March and returning week ten of term two. We would like to wish Mrs de Jonk a happy and restful time. In Mrs de Jonk’s absence Mrs Adele Salleo and Mr Mike Lee will be sharing the deputy role doing two days each per week. Another teacher will be appointed to cover Mr Lee for two of his teaching days. A huge thank you to Mrs Cardy for picking up the extra day in room one.
Merit Certificates
Congratulations to the following students who received merit certificates and values awards at the school assembly last Wednesday. The next assembly which room 6 will be hosting on Wednesday the 13th March at 8:45am will have a presentation to Mr Leigh Merrells for the amazing work he did in painting the mural in the Library last year. Parents and Citizens:
Week Three was a very busy week with the AGM for the P & C and I thank everyone for their willingness to hold office again in the P & C. Please see the P & C news below for office bearers and other news.
School Board
Also in week three the School Board held an open night for interested parents to attend. We had three parents who took advantage of that night to discover some of the ways in which a Board works. There was an election held to replace two positions and once screening checks have taken place we will be able to announce the successful applicants.
New School Phone System
Please note we have upgraded our telephone system. The new school phone number is 9413 4200, please edit your contact details. There is a diversion in place for six months if you ring the old number.

March Munch (Tuesday 5th – Friday 29th March 2019)
Did you know that only 1 in 6 primary school kids in WA eat enough vegetables? During the month of March, we will be encouraging kids choose veggies for Crunch&Sip to create healthy habits.
Students from Kindy to Year 3 will be enjoying their healthy treats during recess or lunch and students from Year 4 to Year 6 will participate in Crunch&Sip in class. Please check with your child’s teacher to find out if their class is participating.
Year 6 Science
On 19th February, the Year 6 students headed to Hampton Senior High School for Science! Their time was spent using Bunsen burners, experimenting with dry ice and having fun. It was great to see the students so full of excitement and enthusiasm. They are very much looking forward to next time!

Library
Next term the Library will be starting a Tuesday lunch time activity called ‘Maker Space’. This will involve those interested learning how to sew, knit and crochet. We will work towards making rugs for either Cancer recipients, The Women’s Refuge or Premature babies. We are in need of knitting needles, wool and some material, if you have any spare or know someone that would like to donate please bring it to the library.
