Principal’s Report
Thank you everyone for your contribution to a very smooth start to the Term. The students have made a pleasing transition back to school in the first two weeks, working diligently in class and preparing for the busy term ahead. I thank the teachers and children for working so well together.
Room 3 and 4 have had an enjoyable start to the term by going on an excursion to the Maritime Museum and Cicerello’s for lunch in Fremantle. The teachers were very impressed with the student’s behaviour and enthusiasm for the activities.
A big thank you to Mr Lee for organising another terrific Cross Country event. The weather played nicely and the students showed tremendous resilience and perseverance in completing the challenging run. Congratulations to all participants and a big thank you to all the parents who attended and cheered on the competitors.
Farewell
It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Mrs De Jonk who has retired after 28 years of service at Hampton Park Primary School and 45 Years as a teacher in the Education Department. The contribution that Mrs De Jonk has given to this school is undeniable and she leaves a legacy of student first, care and constantly seeking improved outcomes for the students and whole school community. On behalf of the entire school community I would like to thank Jan for her dedication and commitment to Hampton Park Primary School and we wish her the absolute best in retirement.
Positive Work
It has been very pleasing to see the number of children visiting the office with outstanding work. We have had many children visit for positive work in the first two weeks. This has been wonderful to see.
Assemblies
Our first assembly is today and will be presented by Mr Rakimov and his Lab assistants from our Science Lab. All families and friends are welcome to attend. The assembly will commence at 8:45am.
Oval
Mr Warren Barnard, School Groundsman, has been busily preparing the school oval in preparation for the Faction carnival this in term in week 7. In respects of this could you please make sure that no dogs are bought on to the oval as it will make a busy time for Warren even busier.
Before and After School Play
Please remember the children are encouraged to sit quietly outside the classrooms before school and then enter once the doors are open. This helps the children settle into the classroom routine quicker than if they are running around playing games. Also we don’t encourage children on any playground equipment before school as this is a safety concern. 8:15am is the acceptable time for children to arrive at school. There is no Duty of Care by the school before then.
If you wish to stay for 10 – 15 minutes with an older child in years 1 – 6 please use the playground at the end of the cluster. The early childhood playground is only for the Kindy and Pre Primary children to use. The Kindy and Pre Primary children are also welcome to use the playground at the southern end of the clusters for a short period of time. Before and after school is usually a time that the teachers are preparing future lessons and would like to do so in an orderly working environment.
Carpark
A gentle reminder to please note that the Kiss and Ride section is a 1 minute stopping space. Please be considerate to others needs in this area as it can cause serious hold ups if people park here. There are parking bays available on the opposite side of the school, if you wish to use them and they are particularly helpful if your child is in the rooms in the older part of the school.

Acting Principal
Book Week Parade
The Book Week Parade will be on Thursday 29th August at 9:00am. Students are going to wear a costume of their favourite book character on the day. This will be a part of a week of fun-filled activities around the Book Week theme of Reading is My Secret Power.
Lost Property
At the end of last term there was a large amount of jumpers, drink bottles and swimming gear left at school. A lot of the clothing has no names on any of the labels. Please write your child’s name on their uniform, especially jumpers and bucket hats. Drink bottles that are not collected after a period of time will go in the bin. Please label these.
Room 4 – Fremantle Excursion
The students from Rooms 3 and 4 went to the WA Maritime Museum and Cicerello’s on Thursday. We learnt about people that showed courage like new immigrants, Indonesian fishermen, submarine commandos, pearl divers and Jon Sanders, who sailed solo around the world fifteen times. We got to see a megamouth shark, Australia II, a submarine and Jon Sanders boat. We also went on an old ferry boat from the 1900s.
After the museum we all had a good feed at Cicerello's where some of our parents joined us. There was just enough time for a quick play in the playground before we caught the bus back to school. It was a great day and we can't wait for our next excursion. Thank you to Miranda, Tiana's Mum, for coming along and helping.

The chosen students from each class then compete with students at their year level. Two students from each year level then present their speeches at an assembly to decide the Year Level Public Speaking Champions. This year the Public Speaking Assembly will be held on Wednesday the 21st of August. There will also be musical entertainment provided by the students. Please come along to hear some fabulous speeches.
