Administration Building
We have some exciting news. The new administration building and playground relocation will start next Monday 22nd June. The area that is currently the climbing equipment playground and the area between the Cluster and the buildings will be cordoned off. Staff and students will need to walk around the long way as you will not be able to go around via the Canteen end of the verandas, nor to the east of the Cluster. The area next to the vegetable patch will also be cordoned off as the gates are being changed. The ground will have new tarmac laid and the two large skip bins, the green storage shed and the cleaners’ green shed will be moved.
For a period of time, the contents of the green storage shed will be packed against the wall in the undercover area. It will be made safe so that children can still play in the area.
Yes, there will be noise and disruption but the end results will be a valuable asset to the school community.
Cleaners Appreciation Day
On Monday 15th June we celebrated the great work the cleaners do at our school. We are very fortunate at Hampton Park Primary School to have such dedicated cleaners who work tirelessly to keep our school in such pristine condition. One group commence at 4:30am every day. I would like to publicly thank them for everything they do and for all the changes they have recently had to undertake without ever complaining. Thank you Tracey and your team.
School Development Day
Monday 20th July is a school development day. Staff will be working but children will not. The first day back for students in Term Three will be the 21st July.
COVID -19 Conditions – Parents Onsite
At this point in time parents are allowed onto the school grounds to pick up and drop off their child/children. I would ask though that parents do not come onto the grounds early or linger after dropping off. We are only allowed 100 parents on the grounds at a time and with 75 children in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary that already equates for ¾ of the number we are allowed. Please do not wait around outside the classrooms. Your children developed and showed their independence very well for the first four weeks of this term and we don’t want them to regress in their skills. Appointments must be made to see office staff or teachers.
School Reports
Owing to the COVID-19 conditions that we are still operating under, school reports will be given directly to the children this term. The reports will be given out on Wednesday 1st July to all classes except Kindergarten One who will receive theirs on Tuesday 30th June. There is a change to the reports this semester as no grades are being given, only comments. Please see letter regarding this below.

The Importance of Being Punctual
We would like to remind you that the children are required to be inside their classroom ready to commence work at 8:45am daily. Any child that arrives after that time is marked late on the roll by the teacher. Children that arrive after 8:45am will need to go to the office for a late note. We encourage children to be on time or slightly early as this sets them up for good practise into the future for appointments or work commitments. Ideally children should arrive at school after 8:30am and before 8:45am. It would be wonderful for the orderly working environment of the school if everyone would support this.
2021 Kindergarten Enrolments
Enrolments are now open for our Kindergarten program for children whose date of birth falls between the 1st July 2016 and the 30th June 2017. Enrolments will close on Friday 24th July 2020. Once we have confirmed enrolments, notification of acceptance will be sent in writing.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation please complete the Application for Enrolment form on our website and return it by email to hamptonpark.ps@education.wa.edu.au
Year 6 Fundraiser – Sausage Sizzle Lunch
The Year Six students will be running a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser in Week Ten, on Tuesday 30th June. Order forms will be distributed this week and need to be returned in a plain envelope with correct cash to the office no later than Thursday 25th June. No late orders will be accepted. Orders will be delivered to each class individually at lunch on the day.
School Board News
It has been a while since our last Board update and I thank you for your patience.
We had to cancel our 30th of March meeting due to the Department of Education’s recommendation with relation to the COVID-19 situation. However, we were kept updated on school matters through the Principal’s report and managed to complete the following outstanding action items:
- Board Chairperson to generate summary of Board’s discussion for newsletter and P & C social media pages; and
- Note the School’s 2020 Budget.
It has been a challenging time for the community and school during the past few months. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all the parents who responded to this change positively and cooperated with the requirements of the school and government.
I would like to also recognise the significant work and effort Mrs Arnott, all teachers, teachers’ assistants, support and school staff have put in to:
- Implement the changes as directed by the Department of Education;
- Create online resources for the students;
- Help students (and parents) adapt and cope with the changes;
- Increase the level of cleanliness and hygiene in classes and school; and
- Perform other extra duties where and when required.
I have highlighted to the Minister for Education the Honourable Sue Ellery, in a very recent ZOOM meeting, how the school have stepped up during this time and successfully delivered the points mentioned above.
WA Education Awards 2020 have unfortunately been cancelled due to existing COVID-19 restrictions. Can I please encourage you to email your children’s Teachers and Teachers’ Assistants including the school administration and support staff, with your appreciation for their commitment to their roles and support to improving your children’s education and experience.
If you would like more details on what we do and have discussed in previous meetings, please visit our School Board webpage at the link below:

If you have any questions for the Board, please email us at hpps.schoolboard@gmail.com.
Thank you.
