Principal’s Report
Administration Building
Each day the staff and I get more excited as we watch the new administration building and playground begin to take shape. The administration building is on track for its completion date at the end of this year. We have had an issue with vehicles using the delivery road at the end of the school day, this has been addressed with the builders and the sub-contractors concerned.
Athletics Carnival
It is that time of the year again, the athletics carnival is almost upon us. Hopefully your children are urging you to take them to the park to practise their running daily. The carnival will be a little different this year in terms of parent participation. We hope to know closer to the date as to how many parents can be in attendance. Currently we are still limited to 100 parents onsite at any one time.
Kiss and Drive Carpark
I would like to remind parents that this is a shared zone and the speed limit is 10kph. We have had some parents arriving early and parking in the Kiss and Drive pickup area up to 30 minutes before the school siren. From 2:30pm onwards the Kiss and Drive carpark is a one-minute waiting zone only. Please be mindful of this at school pick up.
Public Speaking Contest
We are going ahead with our annual public speaking contest. It will be held in week two of term four on Wednesday 21st October. Again, depending on our limitations of parents on the school grounds we may have to make arrangements to limit those who can attend. More on that closer to the date.

PP1 News
In PP1 we have been learning to be birdwatchers or “Twitchers”. We take a little mindful time most days to sit quietly in our nature playground, looking and listening for birds. Already, we have spotted quite a variety! We are learning about each bird – what it looks like, what it eats and some of its habits. We like listening to the song of each bird and trying to copy it. Here is a photo of our birdwatching wall. Hopefully we will add even more birds to it soon.
School Photos 16th and 17th September
Photo envelopes will be sent home next week and will need to be returned to the office letterbox no later than the 9th September. We have a new company this year called Midland Photographers. All the information including sibling photos is clearly marked on the envelope.
Vac Swim
Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the October and December/January school holidays.
October is a great time to get your children ready for summer and January offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations during the long break.
Your children can start as young as five years old.

School Board
Dear Parents/Carers/Guardians,
I trust this update finds you and your family well.
To keep you informed on what the School Board does, please find below the items we have endorsed in our 22nd June Board meeting:
- Annual review and election of Deputy Chairperson and Secretary Positions at the first meeting of every year; and
- New HPPS School Board Terms of Reference.
We also discussed the 2020 to 2022 School Business plan which the school leadership and staff have drafted for our review.
The Board provided constructive feedback for the school’s consideration and action as it is not the Board’s role to endorse school business plans.
The new Terms of Reference and minutes, which captures all our discussions and feedback, can be viewed or downloaded from our School Board webpage.
If you have any questions for the Board, please email us at hpps.schoolboard@gmail.com.
Thank you and stay safe.
Kind Regards,
Xavier Teo
Board Chairperson
