Principal’s Report
Wow, another term has come to an end. It feels like they are flying by quicker and quicker. Thank you to everyone who has asked about my Long Service Leave that I recently took. It was very lovely, my husband and I spent three weeks away on the Pilbara coast, such a glorious part of the world. We saw many whales making their way south and giant sea turtles feeding. I highly recommend the location as a holiday destination.
New Administration Building
The new administration building is going ahead very well and the builders advise that they are two and half weeks in front of schedule. Yesterday we took back ownership of the area on the Hamersley Avenue side which is where the storage sheds and skip bins were relocated too. This has tidied up a space in the school that was previously under developed and messy.
Staff Changes
Mrs Michelle Pitchen is taking Long Service Leave for all of term four. We wish her many happy weeks away from work. We welcome to the school Miss Leah Fraser, who will be taking the Pre Primary Two class in Mrs Pitchen’s absence.
Teacher Recognition
As some of you may be aware, we usually have Education Department awards that recognise the great work of schools and their staff. Unfortunately, this year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic the awards were cancelled. There is however, a Commonwealth Bank award that recognises great teachers. Please see the flyer below if you would like to nominate a teacher for these awards or visit the Commonwealth Bank website.
Hi there,
We’re delighted to invite nominations and applications for the 2021 Commonwealth Bank Teaching Awards.
Our goal is to recognise and reward educators who transform young students’ lives, even in the most challenging circumstances. Teachers who inspire, innovate, and go above and beyond to shape a brighter future for their students.
This year has already been one of the most challenging years for teachers and students in our lifetimes. Yet throughout all of the ups and downs and unexpected moments, many teachers have continued to shine. They’ve selflessly given their time and remained committed to creating a future for the next generation.
That’s why we’re looking to recognise 12 more outstanding teachers and school leaders who’ve delivered transformative and measurable outcomes for their students.
The chosen 12 will each receive a $45,000 Teaching Fellowship, which includes $10,000 to support their professional development, $25,000 for a school project to improve outcomes for their students and a group visit to a high-performing education system.
If you know an outstanding educator, nominate them now. The value of their work inspires for a lifetime, but the chance to recognise and reward them closes on 16 October 2020.
Good Luck!

Chinese News
It is always exciting to share good news. Students at Hampton Park have risen to the occasion and done us all proud. In the recent Writing Competition held by CLTAWA (Chinese Language Teachers’ Association of Western Australia) our best student entries were submitted and returned with the following results:
Category A: |
Isaac R |
Excellence Certificate |
Shania M |
Excellence Certificate |
|
Category B: |
Abhinav V |
Fourth Place |
Maddison M |
Excellence Certificate |
|
Category E1 (Background): |
Alyssa Y |
Excellence Certificate |
Credit must go to all our students who were prepared to sacrifice both their time at home and in school to produce work of a very high standard.
In the Mandarin Speaking Competition held on 12th September, Abhinav V and Maddison M, year five students from room eight, took on the challenge to prepare and deliver a speech in Mandarin. In the two weeks leading up to the competition, they practised very hard in order to compete with many other second language students in WA. They showed great confidence as they delivered their speeches online. Maddison managed to secure second place in the year five category. What an amazing achievement. Our Hampton Park students can rise to such a great height of excellence. They have definitely flown higher and I hope they will see far.
The above named students will be presented with their trophy, medal and Certificates of Excellence in term four at our next assembly. We would like to congratulate them together with Aiden L, Abhinav V and Kristal A, the recipients of ACFSWA (Australian Chinese Friendship Society of Western Australia) awards for their great achievements.
Finally, with the mid-autumn Festival just around the corner, we shall be sampling mooncakes and sharing stories behind this festive occasion this week and in the first week of next term. Please send me a message on Dojo if you have any concerns regarding the sampling of this festive treat.

Staff vs Student Netball and Basketball
The year six students have been taking on the staff in competitive but fun games of netball and basketball over the last two Tuesday’s during lunch. Very unofficially, the staff seem to have won both games.

Voluntary Contributions
Thank you to everyone who supports the school by paying their voluntary contributions. I know we do receive funds from the Government for the managing of the school, however sometimes it doesn’t seem quite enough to cover all the extra bits and pieces. We can only afford to do extras like this through the generous donations of those who pay their voluntary contributions. It is $60 per student and payment plans are welcome. Please discuss with Mrs Clamp in the front office if you would like to make such an arrangement.
Vac Swim
Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the October and December/January school holidays.
October is a great time to get your children ready for summer and January offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations during the long break.
Your children can start as young as five years old.
Enrol your children in VacSwim now at

P&C
The next P&C meeting will be held on Monday 26th October 2020.
