Principal’s Report

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun and if you’re anything like me the ‘To Do List’ continues to have items added. Our busy Term Four continues to be filled with exciting and interesting events.

Early Childhood Incursions

Last week the early childhood children were visited by the Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Police. They had a look through a fire truck and got to see the big hose in action. The Police visited with a police dog, three motorcycles, two horses and a patrol car. All of which the children were able to interact with. They also had a visit from Scitech on Thursday and joined in the P&C’s Colour Fun Run on Friday, what a very busy week for them.

Remembrance Day

A huge thank you was given to Mrs Andrea Todd and her wonderful team of helpers who created the magnificent poppy wall for Remembrance Day. It started as an idea of how to reuse the protective plastic moulds that are fitted over the rims of cars when they are in transit. A team effort was applied to have the children paint all the poppies, either before school, at lunch time or after school. The children were then assisted to attach the poppies to the fence leading to the oval. The poppies look magnificent. Many of the older children assisted the younger ones to attach the poppies to the fence. What a wonderful example of one of our school values ‘cooperation’ in action.

Student Achievement

The School Board recommended mentioning the excellent achievement the students have made over the past two years to all the parents via the School Newsletter. Please see the two graphs below that show the achievement and progress that the children have made over a two year period taken from NAPLAN testing. The higher the results in the top right quadrant and the further to the right the dots are placed the better the children have done. One shows the progress in 2017 – 2019 and the other is the progress from 2019 – 2021. Both are against what is referred to as our Like Schools. The teachers were particularly impressed with how much progress the children have made 2019 - 2021 as it validates all the hard work they have done in establishing new programmes across the school and the Whole School Approach we now take to the learning areas of English and Numeracy.

Colour Fun Run

How fantastic was last Friday’s Colour Fun Run? It was amazing to watch and everyone looked so happy afterwards, splashed with all the colour and water. We are not sure who had the most fun, the parents, the students or the teachers.

Thank you very much to the P&C committee, coordinated by Keisha Lavigne, and additional volunteers that came to assist. Your help was very much appreciated. The Colour Fun Run was financially very successful, the final figure is still to be calculated.

Congratulations to Former Hampton Park Primary School Students

The HSHS Presentation Night for Year 12 students was recently held in the impressive Winthrop Hall at the University of Western Australia. A fantastic venue for students to celebrate 12 years of school with their time at both primary school and high school now complete.

We would like to share the success of former Hampton Park Primary school students who were the proud winners of several awards on the night. Maybe you will recognise them from their Year Six photos but see how they have changed.

Congratulations to Tyler Stewart, Zac Vaccaro and Holly Micallef.

Tyler Stewart

Chemistry General Award and The ADF Long Tan Future Innovators Award

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Future Innovators Award has been designed to recognise recipients’ science and mathematics abilities while highlighting the value that the Navy, Army and Air Force place on STEM skills and STEM career opportunities within Defence.

Each year the award goes to a Year 12 student who has demonstrated both innovation and a high level of motivation in the learning area of STEM.

Zac Vaccaro

A Grades = 1
B Grades = 8
Certs= 1

STEM ATAR Award

These awards offered by the Schools Pathways Program acknowledge the critical role that digital technologies, in particular Information Technology and networking play today. Together with Science, Maths and Engineering; Technology forms the backbone of innovation and commerce, driving social and economic changes in our world.

This year’s ATAR award winner has keenly focussed on both ICT and the Sciences since commencing his journey at Hampton. In Senior School Zac studied Psychology, Chemistry, Maths and IT. He is recognised for his quiet, consistent endeavours to achieve excellence in all that he undertakes. Zac is conscientious, organised and reliable.

Holly Micallef – Year 10 Lisa White Encouragement Award

This year’s recipient of the Lisa White Award of Encouragement goes to a Year 10 student who has consistently achieved A grades in Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities. Holly’s outstanding results are a reflection of her exceptional dedication to her studies as well as her excellent work ethic.

Holly is a very polite and motivated student who has been actively involved with a range of curricular and extra-curricular activities such as Student Council, school musical production, Specialist Cheer Dance program and attended Camp Hero whereby she has become an advocate for improved mental health wellbeing for the Hampton community.

Unwanted Furniture

We have a couch (pictured below) that we no longer need. If anyone would like it and is able to collect it from the school, please contact the office staff.

Student Requirements

Student Requirements have been sent home for 2022. Please note that orders need to be completed by Friday 19th November through Campion. Orders can still be placed past this date, but may incur a late fee. The Student Requirements are also available on our website under Enrolments should you require another copy.

Not Returning to Hampton Park in 2022

This is the ideal time to notify us if you are moving home/school.

If your child/children are not returning to Hampton Park Primary School next year, please email us at hamptonpark.ps@education.wa.edu.au or use the app to notify us quoting the child’s name, their room number and where they will be attending school in 2022.

VacSwim Swimming Lessons

Enrolments are open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the summer school holidays.

VacSwim offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations during the long break. It’s a great school holiday activity that teaches valuable safety skills to help keep your child safe in the water.
