Principal’s Report
Christmas is almost here again, another year over! It has slipped by so quickly and it seems like only yesterday that we had the last summer vacation extended by a week.
2022 Planning
School resumes for students in 2022 on Monday January 31st. The class lists will be placed on our web page on Thursday 27th January and paper copies attached to pin up boards around the school on Friday 28th January. Next year, owing to some odd student numbers we will be running three classes of Year 5/6. We believe this will make many of the senior student tasks much easier to manage throughout the year.
Staff Changes
There are a couple of staff changes for 2022. Ms Schirripa will be leaving us to teach full time at Wattle Grove PS, we thank her for the seven months she has been with us in K2. Mrs Speldewinde will be going on maternity leave and Mrs Horrocks is taking Long Service Leave for the year. We will be welcoming back Mrs Falcone in a part time capacity next year. The full list of who is where will go up next year with the class lists.
Presentation Assemblies
Last week was the Year Six Presentation assembly. Thank you to Mr Ker, Mrs Cunningham and Mrs Donetta for all your hard work in organising this. Yesterday we held the book awards for the Year One to Six and today we are presenting books to all the Kindergarten and Pre-primary children. Such a treat with all their singing.
To Mrs Clare Moore, a massive thank you for all the work you have done this year. The singing during the Public Speaking contest, the One Big Voice singing, the Year Six singing last week plus the special items this week have all been fantastic. We can’t wait to watch Hampton’s Got Talent on Thursday afternoon. Great work.

Mandarin News
We had our final cooking activity for the year. I trust all have had an enjoyable time making tāng yuán 汤圆 (glutinous rice balls) and cōng yóu bǐng 葱油饼 (spring onion pancakes). I was happy to see almost all students were keen to sample the Chinese food. In fact, production couldn’t meet demand, especially over the crispy fragrant pancakes. Our students were very appreciative and well mannered. Such GEMS! The hard work has been well worth it. I would not have been able to run the cooking successfully by myself. A very huge thank you to the parents who read and responded to the request for help on the day. I would like to thank Mrs Andrea Todd for helping me set up and for coming to check on me whenever she was available. I would also like to thank Molly Zhang, my colleague from Confucius Institute for her help this year. My appreciation also goes to Dorianna Z’s Grandma and Dad, Angela‘s Mum, Kristal and Casey A’s Grandma, Emily G’s Mum and Zoe‘s Mum for coming in to help with the activity.
Here are some highlights of the activity from Monday to Wednesday.

Finally, I would like to wish our Year Six students all the best for the future as they move on to their respective high schools. It has been a pleasure to teach them over the past few years. And I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and blessed holiday.

School Board
Under the guidance of our school principal, Yvonne Arnott, Hampton Park Primary School has done well over the past 12 months.
Three major developments occurred at our School:
- Our Year 3 and Year 5 students have made great achievements in their NAPLAN performance which have resulted in our school position in the “Higher Progress, Higher Achievement” category for all the subjects (Reading, Spelling, Numeracy, Writing and, Grammar and Punctuation). We would like to thank our teachers and their support over the last 12 months.
- The Department of Education WA conducted a school review to which in Yvonne’s words “We had a fantastic review”. The School Board and Staff would like to thank the amazing work Adele Salleo did with the process and getting it finalized.
- Earlier this year, the Hon. Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA approached the School Board and P&C regarding the funding of $30,000. The School Board prioritized several projects which resulted in a new Kiss and Drive Shelter and another shelter from the gate to our early childhood centre. We like to thank the Hon. Amber-Jade Sanderson for her contribution to Hampton Park Primary School.
Going into 2022, there are plans to have a community garden that will help educate our kids more about nature. Additionally, the School Board is looking to build relationships with local businesses which could help further support our School.
On behalf of the School Board, we would like to thank Jessica Owsiak for taking on the role of Board Secretary.
We wish everyone Merry Christmas and have a safe Happy New Year.
P&C
Hello Families and Friends.
What a way to wrap up 2021! We had a massive turnout for our Christmas Roller Disco at Morley Rollerdrome, thank you to all who attended. It was a great afternoon of thrills, a few spills and all-round fun had by everyone. Congratulations to Linda Batchelor who was the lucky raffle winner of a Galaxy Tab A, kindly donated by Amber-Jade Sanderson, Member for Morley. Ozzie and the Rollerdrome team are fantastic hosts, so we hope to plan another event with them sometime next year, so stay tuned.
It’s been an interesting time trying to keep all things P&C running over the last 2 years, the one thing that still stands is that we have a wonderful and supportive school community here at Hampton Park.
