Principal’s Report

As I am writing this on Monday, I am wondering if it is too early in the week to say “we survived Term One”. It certainly does feel like a ‘we made it’ moment. With the many catastrophic situations around the world and the much less catastrophic situations we have had in our little Hampton Park Primary School world, it feels like it has been a long term. I would once again like to thank everyone for every bit of support you have shown. It is wonderful to know that the school community understands and supports the school.

School Chaplain

Unfortunately, the wonderful Mr Jaxon Johnston, our School Chaplain is leaving us today. Jaxon has nearly finished his teacher training and as such has been given an early offer to teach at a school near his home. This opportunity was way too good to pass by. We are very sorry to see Jaxon leave but we are very happy for him and maybe one day our paths will cross again. We wish Jaxon all the very best!

Term Two

We recommence Term Two on Tuesday 26th April as Monday is a public holiday for ANZAC Day. Please remember to not send your children to school on the Monday as there will be no one on site to send them home again.

ANZAC Day

As we were in Phase Two Covid restrictions at the time we would have been planning our ANZAC Service, it had to be cancelled from our calendar of events. Now with holidays upon us it is too late to reschedule the event. The students will still be spending time learning about ANZAC Day, why we commemorate it each year and doing activities about it.

School Board and P&C

We finally managed to hold these two meetings this term. The School Board’s meeting saw some members face to face and mask wearing at school and some members joined via a WebEx online structure on the Monday evening of Week Nine. The P&C held their AGM on Monday afternoon in Week Ten at 2pm in the school library while mask wearing and appropriately distanced. There is still a vacancy on the School Board for a parent representative and for another community member who can help with special projects at the school. Both vacancies will be held open until someone volunteers to fill the roles.

The following parents have been voted in to the executive of the P&C:

President – Amy Feleppa
Vice President – Tracey Murfett
Treasurer – Jo Robinson
Fund Raising Co-ordinator – Keisha Lavigne

Congratulations to all and I look forward to working with both the School Board and the P&C this year.

The Secretary’s position has not been filled. A further notice will be sent out should you wish to apply for this position.

School Gardener

As some of you may have already noticed, Warren Barnard has returned to the school. The position was advertised and Warren was the successful applicant. We are very happy to welcome Warren back.

Flu Vaccines

A reminder to book your flu vaccine here at the school in Week Three of Term Two if you haven’t already done so. The QR code to book follows.

School Holidays

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe holiday and a Happy Easter. I will be taking Long Service Leave after the holidays. Mr Ben Ker will be the Principal in my absence. I will be back in Week 4, Monday 16th May. Stay safe and go well.

Harmony Day Celebrations

In Week Eight, all the classes in our wonderful school celebrated Harmony Week by exploring a culture from another country. The children and teachers had fun learning about the flags, foods, sports, language, festivals, traditional dress, etc., throughout the week and put this information all together to create a Harmony Day book! It was fantastic to see the children appreciating many traditions that are different to their own and reinforcing the message that everybody belongs.

Office Art Display

This week’s display of amazing artwork in the office was created by Room 1. Thank you Room 1, they look amazing.

Pay your Voluntary Contributions and go in the draw to WIN

Thank you to our families who have paid their voluntary contributions for this year. These monies go to much needed resources for our students.

The P&C have donated 3 vouchers for tri colour shirts to be used at our uniform supplier Tudor Uniforms. There will be a voucher for 1 shirt, a voucher for 2 shirts and a voucher for 3 shirts to be won. To be in the draw to receive one of these vouchers all you have to do is make sure your Voluntary Contributions are paid by Friday 20th May 2022. If you have already paid your contributions this year, then you are already in the draw.

A very big thank you to the P&C for your support of Hampton Park Primary School.
