Principal’s Report
It is with great pleasure that I welcome our new School Chaplain, Mr Joshua Benjamins, to Hampton Park Primary. Joshua will be working here each Monday and Tuesday. Please see the attached brochure which gives details to his role and how to contact him.
MAD Award
At our last assembly Mr Michael Lee was presented with a Making a Difference Award. The awards are given by the Education Department to worthy recipients. Mr Lee was awarded this for the work he does with successfully applying for grants from the Sporting Schools Association. The funding that he receives is used to pay for the different sporting organisations that run clinics at the school, such as last week's golf clinics.
If you believe that someone at the school is doing something special and you would like to nominate that person for a Making a Difference Award, please contact the office as all nominations must go through me.
CLTAWA
The Chinese Language Teaching Association of Western Australia hold competitions at different times in the year. Recently they held a Background Storytelling competition which two of our children took part in. Congratulations to Dorianna Z in Year Two for the terrific story telling she did in Category 2 where she placed third. Well done Dorianna, she tells the story very well in English and Chinese, as does Aleah L in Year Four who also took part. As is the way of the times the girls had to compete using a Zoom meeting, which made it extra challenging.
Swimming Lessons
If you still haven’t paid for swimming lessons it's not too late to do so. We would like to see every child attend as the lessons are so vital. There are forms available from the office. Remind your child/ren to bring their bathers and towels next Tuesday for the first lesson. Please label all items of clothing with your child’s name. Every year we have a lot of lost property that could be returned if names were on the items.
Interschool Sport
It was fantastic for the Year Five and Six children to be able to use their sporting skills in games against Hillcrest Primary last week. They were all very excited by this. This Friday we are hosting Hillcrest in AFL, Netball, Basketball and Soccer.

Eagle’s Cup Round 1 – Hillcrest V Hampton
We travelled to Hillcrest Primary School on Friday 27th May to compete in an amended season of the Eagle’s Cup. Unfortunately, due to the many Covid protocols much of last terms activities were moved into Term Two. This is making it extremely hard for all of our schools to find common times available to play. Fortunately, Hampton and Hillcrest found a gap in the timetable to play each other over two consecutive Friday afternoons.
AFL Football

Netball A

Netball B

Soccer

Basketball

A very successful outing, not only in the results but also on the way both school’s teams played in the great spirit of their chosen games. This week we will play Hillcrest’s teams at Hampton Park. Spectators are very welcome. Games will start at 1:30pm.
Our victorious AFL footballers.
Constable Care Incursion
Hampton Park had a visit from the Constable Care team to learn about cyber safety and warning signs.
The Year Four to Six classes watched an entertaining play called Screen Name. The play dealt with cyber safety and addressed how not all things are as they seem on the internet and that not all people are who they say they are.
The Year One to Three classes watched a puppet play, Fun Scary, helping them to think about warning signs their body gives them when things aren’t quite right.
Golf with Jordan from Golf WA
The Year Three to Six classes are learning to drive and chip with modified clubs and balls.

Footy Week and Jersey Day - Year Six Fundraising
'Footy Week' is in full swing this week! It is the first fundraising event of the year for our Year Six students, who are raising money for their end of year graduation activities. As part of Footy Week there is a huge raffle draw running, with some amazing prizes! You could win tickets to a Fremantle Dockers game, along with signed jerseys, footballs and other items from the West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Dockers and even the Sydney Swans. Tickets for this are $3 each or $5 for 2 and can be bought by the students at school on Friday.
There will also be a 'Jersey Day' on Friday this week, where students can wear the colours of their favourite sporting team for a gold coin donation. We can't wait to see all of the students dressed in the colours of their favourite sporting team!

Government House Excursion
On Thursday 5th May 2022 a select group of Hampton Park students attended an excursion to Government House. During his tenure, the The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia and his wife Ms Susie Annus have been strong advocates for Arts Education and were keen to foster a program giving students the opportunity to experience music in the walls of one of WA’s most historic buildings. Members of the Hampton Park School Choir and students of the John Forrest Instrumental Music Program were selected to attend this special excursion.
On the day, students travelled by bus to Government House where they were met by an official tour guide. We were escorted through the grand entrance and into the Music Room. Soon after, the Governor entered to welcome and address the students about the value of music education. We were then treated to a special performance by ‘Flamingo Strings’ a local string ensemble featuring a violin, viola and cello. Using a mix of popular and classical pieces, they entertained and engaged us while exploring the different elements of music and how they enhance the way music communicates ideas and emotions.
After the performance, our students participated in a lively Q & A session during which Delilah K delighted us all with her description of Grieg’s ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’.
Students were then invited by the The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia to visit his private study where he discussed the significance of artwork depicting early settlement, the grand portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as his personal war memorabilia collection.
Finally, students were given a tour of the house and its precious indigenous art collection. Our excursion ended with lunch in the gorgeous Government House gardens.
I’m confident all students found this excursion both educational and exciting and their participation and behaviour was a great example of Hampton Park’s school values. Huge thanks go to Mrs Arnott for initiating the excursion and Mr Evangelista for documenting the occasion.
