Principal’s Report

Swimming Lessons

Thank you to everyone for your support of the in-term swimming lessons. I know it is difficult, especially at this time of the year but being able to swim is such a vital skill for children to obtain. 89% of eligible students have taken up the opportunity, which is a very high figure.

School Recycling Project

Did you know that Hampton Park is a Waste Wise school? Every classroom is a collection point for different items that can be recycled. Aluminium/foil snack wrappers, aluminium coffee pods, toothbrushes, pasta sauce jars, blankets and towels, bread tags, ink cartridges, spectacles, dry cell batteries, pens, markers, highlighters and electronic devices, including mobile phones. Please see the attached document for the room that is the collection point for the items you wish to recycle. The P&C will shortly have a ‘Containers for Change’ bin at the school as well. This is a fundraiser for the P&C to offset the necessary price rise of drinks at the canteen.

School Assembly

There is no school assembly this week owing to swimming lessons. The next class assembly is Wednesday of Week 10, 29th June at 8.45am. Room 2 will be hosting this assembly.

Year Six Fundraiser

A reminder that tickets for the Year Six Footy Fundraiser raffle are still available to be purchased by parents or students via the office this week. More information follows in this newsletter.

The Year Sixes are also holding a Sausage Sizzle on Monday 20th June. Order forms went home last week. Please check your child’s bag if he/she hasn’t already given it to you. All orders are due in by Thursday 16th June to the office. If anyone has time on Monday 20th June to help turn a few sausages or bag them up, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Professional Development Days

A reminder that Friday the 1st July and Monday 18th July are both professional learning days for the staff, this means that the students do not attend school on those two days.

Late to School

Please remember that the school bell goes at 8:45am and children need to be in class by then. The classroom doors all open at 8:30am to allow students time to get all their belongings ready for the day. Last Tuesday, we had 31 students arrive late, which is 9.17% of the student population. If your child is late to class it means they may have missed out on vital information for their day, it can be disruptive to teachers and students who’ve already engaged in their work and can be distressing for the student having to walk into class late. Office staff are also impacted as each student must present to the office to receive a late note. Please be mindful of the time in the mornings and have children here ready to start the day before the siren. This is good practise to develop in the children as when they eventually leave school and join the workforce lateness would not be tolerated.

Room 9 News

My name is Miss Branson and I am the Prac teacher in Room 9. Over the past two weeks we have been learning about the Colour Wheel and connecting colours to emotions. We have identified which colours are primary and experimented in mixing these colours to create secondary colours. We have also learnt about complementary and analogous colours and what warm and cool colours are. Room 9 are now creating their own mood bowls. They are painting bowls to represent different types of emotions like anger, happiness, shyness, mysteriousness etc. through their careful choice of colours. Great work Room 9!
