Principal’s Report
We are now past the midway point of Term 2 and are racing towards another set of school holidays. The time does go by so quickly.
Reporting to Parents
The teachers are well under way with report writing and editing. If your family circumstances have changed since semester two reporting last year and you now require two copies of the report for different parents, please contact the office to arrange this.
School Gardens
In reviewing the school grounds with Warren our Gardner on Monday it was noted that students are still cutting across the garden beds to enter the large car park. This has caused damage to the small plants, please speak to your child about avoiding this area.
We also currently have some safety issues with limestone boulders in the early childhood nature playground. The area has been secured off while we wait for contractors. If you have noticed anything around the school that you think might be of value to change, please let me know. We are aware of some issues, but it is always possible that we have missed something which you might have the perfect solution to. Alternatively, you may have some unwanted plants at your house which would look fantastic in some of our garden beds.
P&C
Thank you to the members of the P&C for their current efforts in fundraising. I was away for the Mother’s Day stall but heard it was very well received. The second-hand uniform shop is something that we have wanted to have for the past few years. I'd like to thank our chaplain Joshua Benjamins, for his persistent efforts at filling the shelves and, staffing the shop on Fridays and, to our latest volunteer, Elena, who opens the shop on Tuesdays. I believe the Cookie dough fundraiser has also gone well.
Library
Di Roberts, our Librarian is always looking for volunteers who would like to reshelve returned books. This is a very large undertaking for Di and previously she has had the assistance of volunteers, who were grandparents of some of our students. Unfortunately, they have retired now. The library is open every Tuesday to Friday, but shelving books can be done any day.

Soccer
vs Noranda
The team started a bit slow, possibly due to fatigue from the long and painful task of walking all the way from Hampton Park to Noranda. After 15 minutes on the field, the team finally clicked into gear. The defence was led by Vinessh and Bailey who worked well together, getting it out to Jason and Issei on the wings. These two were causing all sorts of problems for Noranda working the ball up towards our danger man up front, Luis. Unfortunately, there was no reward in the first half, and we went into the break at nil all. The second half was even better with Shaban, Derrick and Te locking down the midfield battle. The team got their reward, firing in three goals for a solid 3 to nil win.
vs Hillcrest
The team started much better, with more energy after only a short walk over the road to Emberson Reserve. The defence was solid again, the wingers were causing more problems than ever, the midfield was in control and our striker was looking deadly. We had a very rewarding first half and went into the break with a 2-nil lead thanks to two strikes from our midfield magician, Shaban. The team thought their job was done, relaxing in the second half after adding a third goal early. Hillcrest hit back with two quick goals to make the game very interesting at 3-2. Hampton absorbed the pressure and hit back to make it 4-2, before Hillcrest hit back again! The game was in the balance at 4-3, Hillcrest threatening to snatch a draw or even the win, but with less than ten minutes to go, Hampton thankfully struck again, making it 5-3 to secure a hard-fought win.
Basketball
Round 1 saw the Hampton Park Basketball team travel to Noranda PS, the team struggled early to hit the scoreboard. Even after the early struggles the team competed strongly but couldn't overcome the gap in score.
In round 2, the basketball team fell short in a nail biter against a strong Hillcrest side, 32 to 34. The team displayed a strong team effort with nearly every player contributing to the scoreboard. Special mentions are to be made for the strong offensive performances from Izaija and Jayden and huge defensive efforts from Sam and Isabella. Even in such close defeat, the basketball team held their heads high showing courtesy and respect to the winning team. The team will seek their first win in their next game, being a rematch against Hillcrest.
Football
Noranda 33 def Hampton 29
A slow start cost us, and the game was looking like getting away quickly with Noranda scoring 3 quick goals. After the first quarter the team started to work together and actually outscored Noranda for the rest of the game with goals from Jenson, Jake, Brian and Luke. Those who stood out and really gave good effort were Mason, Chase, Luke, Brian and Jake.
Hillcrest 62 def Hampton 14
At our "Pantheon of Pain" the Hampton home, Hillcrest started the game on fire and kicked 4 goals before Hampton had got the ball out of the centre. They looked fast and fit! Ms Moore's son, Sam, was being Luke Jackson like and dominating resulting in the first quarter score of 4 goals 2 to 0. Hampton had a trick up their sleeve and a special guest coach. Mr Ker started pulling some strings and planting some magic seeds and as the game went on Hampton started to get some control back, especially in the last quarter when the netball teams came to watch. The cheering for both schools was deafening out in the middle! Hillcrest won the game easily on the scoreboard, but our last three quarters were really great efforts - Ross Lyon would say " We let the cobblers cobble and after a restump and a reset". Goals to Noah and Luke and top efforts from Luke, Mason, Chase. Brian, Jenson, Montannah (who had a mark and shot at goal) and Noah.

Fundraising and Events
Hampton Park PS has been given an opportunity to take part in a unique fundraising opportunity we’d like to share with our community.
We have partnered with GOLD Educational Tours, a local company which specialises in group exchange programs for Japanese students. In July and August 2023, 50 Japanese students will be coming to the neighbourhood to visit John Forrest Secondary College and Hampton Senior High School. GOLD is looking for friendly local families to host them for between 6 to 12 days. You do NOT need to have kids at these schools to be a host.
Staying with a local family is a highlight for the visiting students giving them the opportunity to experience the Aussie way of life and giving our children the chance to make an international friend for life.
For every family who hosts a visiting student, the P&C will receive a $100 donation and families can also choose to donate part of their hosting fee which is $50 per night.
If you’d like to support our P&C and enjoy a great cultural experience, we encourage you to register your interest directly to GOLD via the link below.
