Principal’s Report

Hello to all the members of our Hampton Park Primary School community.

Thank You

Thank you for your on-going support to the staff and the school community as a whole. It is certainly a very different teaching style than anyone could have ever predicted. We really do miss the smiling faces of all the children.

Connect

The Teachers are currently working on establishing online packages for your children. We as a whole school have shifted from using Class Dojo for the work to an online platform called Connect. Connect was developed by the Education Department several years ago but was optional for school use. With the current situation of children being at home doing their work, Connect is a better platform for us to use. It is more secure than Class Dojo and if we have any technical issues it is supported by the Department of Education.

I know this sounds quite daunting for some of you, especially if you have only just commenced working with Class Dojo. Please be assured that Connect is user friendly from your side as well as ours.

Instructions for how to link to the Connect pages will be sent out at a later date. We are still using Class Dojo for communication purposes and Teachers may notify you on Class Dojo when new work is available on Connect. If you experience any issues joining Connect, please advise the school so someone can assist you.

We will continue to use Class Dojo to stay connected to all our families and respond to your messages, where and when it is possible. Should you have any queries or questions that you wish to ask of your child’s class Teacher, please feel free to do so. Please note that the staff will only be responding during normal working hours i.e. Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.30pm.

In respect of student work packages, the class Teachers will upload work to the Connect platform. If a family cannot access this work and would prefer paper copies for their child/children, we will provide those. If parents are unable to collect the packages from the school, then please ring and advise us of this and alternative arrangements can be made.

This week the staff are involved in Professional Learning to ensure they have the best knowledge going forward on how to use Talk 4 Writing in an online forum and the Department of Education’s Webex site. The Webex is a great tool for socially interacting with the children but also for delivery of instructions for how to do certain tasks.

We look forward to sharing and connecting with you in the future.

Communication

Commencing next term all families should receive a weekly phone call from a staff member. We are connecting with all families to ask how everything is going and if there is anything we can do to assist families.

Newsletter

We will be suspending newsletters for the foreseeable future as all important information will now be sent home using Class Dojo for messaging or a push notification for more urgent information.

We will be taking Kindy Enrolments for 2021 from the beginning of Term 2. Visit our website for an Application form and for more information on how to enrol.

Community Notices

Midvale Parenting Hub Update

Just to advise the Parenting Service this week has suspended all face to face contact and staff are now working from home until further notice.

The service is committed to supporting families. We are able to support parents on an individual basis by phone or zoom. We will also be providing workshops and evidence based programs via zoom.

Zoom meets are possible if parents have access to Wi-Fi and a device with a camera. We have already started to provide these sessions.

Programs such as - Circle of Security Parenting, Tuning in to Kids, 123 Magic & Emotion Coaching, Tuning in to Teens and also Protective Behaviours Parent Workshops will be offered via zoom in groups of approximately 6 participants. We are now taking expressions of interest for these programs. We will also be making contact with people who have already expressed interest in previously advertised programs before the COVID–19.
