Faction Carnival

Principal’s Report

Faction Carnival

The Faction Athletics Carnival is rapidly approaching. As most things have been slightly different this year due to Covid-19 the Faction Carnival will also be different from previous years. Our aim as always is to provide a safe, fun and responsible school event for our students, whilst still providing an event which can accommodate families to come and enjoy the day. We are investigating all methods and exploring the best possible outcome for the School Community. Please be aware that there will be further information regarding this as we get closer to the 4th September.

On the day, there will be an expectation that all adults will socially distance while observing the events by keeping 1.5m apart. Due to this, the grandstand will be marked in accordance to the 1.5m distancing recommendations. We encourage families to limit those attending the carnival and recommend one parent per child. The school will provide hand sanitiser stations and limited interactions with the competitors will be encouraged. It is crucial that if you are feeling unwell please do not attend the event. There will be a cordoned off area for photographs of the place getters near the Dais. There will be plenty of communication on this during the day.

For lunchtime we encourage families to spread out and utilise the open spaces of the school grounds. The plateau oval next to the basketball courts is available to parents who would like to sit with their children on a blanket. Lunch orders from the canteen will be available and student leaders will assist in the delivery of these to the faction bays. The staff toilets will be available to parents.

The scoring/judges tent is strictly off limits as are the faction bays to all parents. If there is a need to communicate to a staff member, please speak to Mr Ker or Mr Lee. On the finish line for the younger years (K/P& 1’s) we ask that there be only one family member there to take photos. We do not want a crowd at the finish line.

As a Government Primary School we are bound by the guidelines set by the Department of Education. We are obligated to provide the safest environment possible for our school community and we will endeavour to do this as a staff. We ask you as parents to do the same and follow these simple guidelines so we can all have a safe, responsible and fun day.

Building

As each day passes the building around the school continues to progress. We are very excited with the obvious progress of the Administration building but some of you may not have noticed the new area for our cleaners shed and storage shed up near the vegetable garden. We are hopeful to sign off on that this week which will enable us to have the Undercover area empty once more and to have Mrs Boyce and our cleaning team operating out of their new area also.

Kiss and Drive Carpark

I would request that all parents remember that this is a shared zone and the speed limit is 10kmh. Also some parents are arriving early and parking in the Kiss and Drive pickup area up to 30 minutes early. From 2:30pm onwards this is a one-minute waiting zone only. Please remember that your child may not be the first out of school and adhere to the concept of Kiss and Drive, one-minute pick up.

Congratulations

We would like to congratulate Mrs Falcone and her Husband Tony on the safe arrival of the newest little member to their family. Last Sunday they welcomed, Serena Falcone. Born August 16th, at 4.01am, weighing 3.5kg and 49cm long. We wish them all the very best at this special time.

Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to everyone who supports the school by paying their voluntary contributions. I know we do receive funds from the Government for the managing of the school, however sometimes it doesn’t seem quite enough to cover all the extra bits and pieces. We can only afford to do extras like this through the generous donations of those who pay their voluntary contributions. It is $60 per student and payment plans are welcome. Please discuss with Mrs Clamp in the front office if you would like to make such an arrangement.

Early Childhood Playground

A big thank you to the P&C for funding our new amazing bridge in the Early Childhood area. The children are enjoying this additional play space.

School Photos 16th and 17th September

Photo envelopes must be returned to the class Teachers no later than the 9th September. We have a new company this year called Midland Photographers. All the information including sibling photos is clearly marked on the envelope.

Recycling News

Congratulations Hampton Park Primary School, we have collected over 2000 pieces of oral health waste and prevented them from going to landfill. Tooth brushes take 100 years to break down and during that time they contaminate the soil and ground water so it is very important for all of us to recycle all our oral health waste. Terra Cycle also pay us a small amount for our recycling efforts and they run competitions to keep us motivated. Currently we are trying to win a community garden. To do this we need to continue collecting all our toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes and floss containers. Please send them to Room 1 or PP2 and your child will receive 100 faction points for every piece they bring in. We can also earn extra points through voting for our school on the Terra Cycle web site. Please help us by collecting and voting and fingers crossed we can win the garden.

For a full list of everything we collect for recycling, reusing and reducing waste going to landfill please see the table below.

Vac Swim

Enrolments are now open for VacSwim swimming lessons during the October and December/January school holidays.

October is a great time to get your children ready for summer and January offers fun lessons at beach or pool locations during the long break.

Your children can start as young as five years old.
