Principal’s Report

Welcome back to term four. The beautiful Spring weather has been a lovely start to the term.

We are very excited as work commenced this morning for a Mural on the western side of the cluster. The artist, Stephanie Crosby, has created an unique design incorporating the Willy Wagtail from the schools logo.

Unfortunately during the painting period the is no access to the pathway. Please walk carefully around on the grass.

Ms Nicole Cotterell, parent of two students, is commencing work next Tuesday, painting designs on the brick wall between the Science room and the Canteen. Nicole has managed to source the paint as a donation from Bunnings and two assistants are coming from Bunnings to help Nicole on the day with the painting. Many thanks to Nicole for volunteering her time and organising this work. We can’t wait to see that wall brightened up, thank you in advance to Nicole. Again please use an alternative access next Tuesday, when walking into the school from the eastern side.

School Photos

By now all families should have received the school photos if they were ordered last term. If you have any queries, please contact the school or ring Kapture Photography direct on 9240 1714. Thank you to Mrs Salleo for organising this year’s school photographs.

Garden Bed

A big thank you to Claire Shepherd, mother of Estebahn in PP2, for the work herself and her family did assisting Warren Barnard, the School Gardner, on the garden beds next to the driveway off Paine Road. The new little plants look great and hopefully will provide a splash of colour along the pathway. Please remind the children not to walk through the garden bed.

John Forrest Secondary College

It was a delight on Wednesday for our students to be entertained by the John Forrest Secondary College Senior Band, the Guitar Ensemble and the Choral Choir. Each group performed very well. Several of the students from John Forrest were previous Hampton Park students and the staff were delighted to see how well the children had progressed. The music made a very soothing start to the day.

School Fete

Unfortunately, the P&C have had to cancel the concept of organising a fete this year. An application was submitted for council approval last term, however to date a response has not been received. Without Council approval the event cannot go ahead and at this stage it is too late to be booking the various providers and equipment that would be required. Thank you to Keisha and her fundraising committee for the work they have already done and were prepared to commit.

Technology and Enterprise

The children have been making items through their T & E lessons that were to be sold at the fete. These items will now be sold at the Christmas Disco on December 6th.

Maths and Science Day

The school will be celebrating all things maths and science on Friday 1st November. The children will be involved in a variety of activities on that day. There is no cost to the children for any of the activities.

Interschool Athletics Carnival

The 2019 Interschool Carnival was very successful for our Hampton Park athletes as we finished second overall and won the Meritorious Shield for most improved performance.

Congratulations to all of our competitors in the individual events and a huge congratulations to Rimu P and Garrison K on their Runner Up Champion Athlete awards.

I am most proud of our team game efforts. The teams put in a wonderful effort and gave up their lunchtimes to practice with their coaches and it certainly did pay off. We started the main carnival day in last position and by the end of the 200m sprints, junior sprints and team games we had risen to second. Mrs Falcone's junior teams performed way above their practice form and won the pass ball, placed in leader ball and just missed out in flags. Miss Owsiak's intermediate team also defied illness and missing students during practice to win the pass ball and place in leader ball events. Mr Ker's senior team absolutely blitzed the field. The boys team won all three events and the girls won pass ball and came second in leader ball and flag relay.

As always our kids played hard, displayed excellent sportsmanship and their behaviour and manners in the tent were exceptional. Congratulations to students, parents and teachers, the entire Hampton Park community.

After School Soccer

In conjunction with Perth Glory and Sporting Schools we are offering Soccer Clinics for kids in year 1-3. Clinics are free and start next Monday at 3pm and will run for 4 consecutive Mondays. The sessions will run for an hour and children are expected to be collected at 4pm.

Notes have gone home with interested children and 24 places will be offered on a "first in" basis.

If interested please return the notes to Mr Lee ASAP.

Pyjama Day

Our next Year 6 fundraiser will be held on Thursday 24th October. We will be having a pyjama day. Dress up in your PJ’s, dressing gown or onesies. Please ensure slippers are not worn due to safety and sporting issues. It will be a gold coin donation.

Thank you for your ongoing support with our fundraising this year.

Zero Waste Lunch

Lots of children have been asking me when we are going to have another Zero Waste Lunch Box Challenge so I was thinking that No Waste November would be a good time. Terra Cycle is paying us $110 for all the rubbish we have sent them which is very exciting. It would be good to reward the children, for their efforts, so I will be using the money to buy prizes for our Zero Waste Lunch Box November Challenge.

Each day a child has a Zero Waste Lunch Box he/she will be given a ticket to go in their class barrel. We will have weekly winners, from each class, as well as end of the month winners. The more days the children have Zero Waste Lunch Boxes the more tickets they will have in the barrel, which gives them a greater opportunity to win a prize.

Yours truly, children should be able to explain to you what a Zero Waste Lunch Box looks like and be able to help pack healthy zero waste food. I am hoping that everyone will be able to participate in this challenge for some of the days if not for the whole month.

Remember together we can make a difference!

Thank You
Glynis Cardy
